What and where is the MAF sensor? How do I clean it?

the MAF is the little black box just behind your filter box.... undo the 2 screws and lift it out ...

looks like 2 light bulb filerment if there snapped its fooked but like mine they just had some crud on them...

dont touch them there fragile...spray with carbon cleaner and leave for 10mins so the carb cleaner evaperates...
if theres some crud stuck on them gently clean them with a soft tooth brush or try and blow the crap of.

be careful but it worked a treat and saved my at least £70

Cool thanks mate,

Ive just gone out to have a look at the throtle body and the big bak pipe on it was half hanging off - So Ive just put it back on and taken the car up the road and its 1000 times better  :smiley:

Its still not 100% right I dont think??  but Ive not driven another 8v gti and before this one I had a bmw 328 sport so maybe Im expecting too much??
