MK4 gti 1.8t WATER LEAK!!!
« on: 29 May 2009, 22:45 »
Right...Got my golf about 2 weeks ago and today i noticed a few little puddles under the car. After inspection i've noticed there is a leak (not a little one) either!! I cant work out what is leaking, thought someone might know if i try and explain where it's comin from?!?! here it goes:

If you look at the car from the front its leaking from behind the block on the right hand side (opposite side to waterpump). At the back of the engine bay there is a kind of material heatsheild and it looks like its leakin from behind there! It also leaks faster when i put the engine on, but i can't say i've noticed the coolant level drop too much at this point.

Any ideas?! I would just take it straight to a garage but i'm at uni and don't know any garages round here and  don't wanna just get ripped off so would like an idea of what it is first.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Also....Anyone know a decent/trustworthy mechanic in Brighton?!!!

Cheers

Did you get this sorted as i think i may have just gotten the same problem. Ive just driven over a speedbump type kerb and a heard a thud now all of a sudden there is a leak coming from the back end of the engine bay but cant specifically see from where.
