new rust.
« on: 06 August 2009, 22:47 »
After 10 months of playing with a mk2 20v, i have just today sold it to my mate and got my 8v back on the road. been sitting still doing nothing for last 6 montths and still went straight through the mot toady with hardly any prep by myself
Anyway what i wanted to point out that i havnt seen(or even heard about) before is rust on the sun roof runners. (ill get photos soon) the little brackets that pop the sunroof spoiler thing up, have corroded, then snapped, and then caused the the roof to bubble up. im glad ive caught it now before it gets too bad.
so if u have a sun roof, and not heard of this either then check it now.

ill get photos asap so u can understand better.

I was told by the previous owner that he had the same problem, so sealed up the sunroof aperture and took the winder handle off.
Not been tempted to sort it myself as I think sunroofs are pointless, ever since I burnt my head using one!

Unless it's all bone dry that's quite a risk, as any moisture will sit there and rot steadily.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.
