1800 driver mod advice
« on: 07 August 2009, 21:59 »
Hi all
I,m new to this forum and am hoping you guys can help me out, i,m looking at buying a converted VW Golf driver can you tell me will the following spec be roughly the same power as a GTI

Engine: 1800 GTI lump built by TSR! Weber Carb, New oil pump, head gasket, valve guides & seals, ported & polished Head & inlet by TSR, facet fast road fuel pump, Milltek 4 branch manifold & scorpion exhaust  (apparently its approx 2 yrs since conversion by TSR)

Also the weber is on a manual choke this seems to be the norm as long as its set up well are they relatively reliable.

Thanks in advance

from what Danny_P was saying about the 1.8 Drivers being modded and running single carbs they can make 120-125hp, so yeah a little more than the 8v GTI  now whack on twin webbers and become friends with the guys @ your local petrol station
Passat B5.5 2.3 V5 170, with all the extras.

But for the purest engine experience, displacement has no replacement. All other methods are simply attempts to artificially recreate the benefits of displacement.

Welcome to the site, weber carb is excellent and well worth having if TSR built the engine you will find on the engine number part a code if you ring TSR with that code they should be able to tell you the complete spec would be nice to know what cam is in it etc but should make good power.
