Yeah, tensioning the belt by wedging your foot against it seems to work pretty well  :smiley:

Those allen bolts round off easily, so be careful.  I ended up having to hammer a flare-nut spanner over the bolt-heads to crack em off last time.

I hate those allen bolts :angry: I found one was already rounded completely  :shocked:

I'll be ordering some of these 'just incase' if VW still have em.

But for the purest engine experience, displacement has no replacement. All other methods are simply attempts to artificially recreate the benefits of displacement.

Thanks for all the advice, cheers.  I've rung around for some prices  :grin:

VW    £38.52 + Vat
FMP   £19.43 + Vat
GMF   £20.55                {Glamorgan Motor Factors - Local}
GSF   £28.00 + Vat
        £10.00  + Vat for a cheaper make, apparently

Anyone had experience of the £10 GSF one?

I've got the BQ GSF waterpump, got it for £20 IIRC. Its lasted about 20 months so far with no signs of problems - *touches wood*
