VR6 QUESTION.

Hi my 1998 vr6 devloped a bad misfire took it the garage turned out plugs and leads were bad so had them replaced also a faulty MAF censor had that done cleared the faults all good.But im still getting a judder sometimes between the 1,000 and 2,000 rev range when driving the car anythink after that and shes fine.I opened my bonnet tonight to have a look for any sign of arcing and to my surprise when I looked down at the plugs I could see arching from the leads to the body well the bit where the plug is in.Is this normal or has the garage fitted the wrong type of leads and could this be whats causing my judder problem any feedback would be great thank you.

There shouldn't be any arcing. The lead is either not on properly or damaged.

As above, the same happened to me when I replaced the leads on the gf's Polo GTI. One of the new leads had a split in the insulation. Replaced that lead again and all was good

Thanks for the replys ive spoken to 3 people who are pretty clued up on vws and all have said the same either faulty leads and plugs or their cheap and not upto the job,ive spoken to the garage who has asked me to wait till thursday as he wish to get the correct tool that is used to fit and remove the leads etc so hopefully get it sorted by the end of the week....

I would ask this guy, if he has got to wait for the proper tool to do the job.
 How did he do the job in the first place???

Do you not have one clipped to your bonnet stay which most are ?

Hi i had a good look today at my leads turns out one of the leads at the back wasnt seated properly.I havent got the tool myself but i gentley pused it down on the edge with a screw driver and felt it lock in,the cars spot on now no judders misses etc all good thxs for your replys.....
