Auto glym routine for new paintwork ?
« on: 19 July 2009, 14:52 »
I`m lucky enough to be picking up a new pearl black mk 6 gti a week on monday, anyway i`ve brought some auto glym deep shine polish and already have some auto glym gold ,do i need to polish the car or should i just use the gold polish sealer ?,the deep shine says it is ideal for new or moderate paintwork and the gold says its ideal for new paint work and no need to polish. :undecided:

Hi,

What do you mean by autoglym gold?  Do you mean extra gloss protection?

If it was me, I would assess the condition of the paintwork on arrival and if it was "swirled", I would consider having a conversation with the dealer about the standard of their brand new cars!!

If it was only midly swirled, I would give it a mild hand polish with autoglym super resin or similar (your deep shine will help hide swirls), but primarily I would be looking to put some decent wax on there, collinite etc.

If your feeling flush, now would be a good time to get a decent detailer to correct the bodywork (as very little will need doing, making the job cheaper) and seal it for you properly.

yes extra gloss protection, don`t think it will need detailer as its brand new, they are offering auto glym life shine but had it before and don`t see it does much.

/quote]thanks i`ve looked on there they say you can use black deep shine on new paint but also say you can use gold gloss protection on its own on new paint.
