i think the mk2 would be one of the easyest  cars to restore.

Rather a lot of the parts are still avalable,  seat were makeing what was essentaily a mk2 golf for quite some time after vw stopped makeing them
all the VW's have gone bar 1.

Fair point, you may still struggle with some trim parts however.

  • Looking for an "Icebreaker"
Im flattered that my name was put forward!    The secret to a level Mk2, is having the right car to start with, If the sills and rear wheel arches are rust free, then its a pretty safe bet that the rest of the shell is ok, anything else, walk away from! the rest is all about aligning the bolt on panels correctly for a perfect fit!!   Painting... that's the easy bit!

Why not settle for any colour? You can always get a full re-spray done if you find the correct car.

And I thought I was the only one! I really want a G60, and my mate said.. "why not just stick a G60 engine in yours!?" - To which I replied, "nahh, because then it wouldn't be original." lol. Maybe its a golf enthusiast thing.

Why not give Pete Simpson a ring at Dubbers Sports VWs? -he buys, recons and sells all sorts of Mark 2s from all over the UK and Europe. He is on 07796 304790 near Halifax W. Yorks HD7 5AU. I think he also has a web site - put the company name into Google - that should do!

Let us know how you get on.
