What to declare: EVERYTHING.

Whether you've put LED bulbs in your rear lights or tinted your rear lights, declare every modification you have done to your car. Panel filters, cams, boring the engine, the lot.

Insurance companies CAN find out. Say you've re-bored your engine, by taking off the head and measuring the diameter of the cylinders, they  can tell. This has happened in serious cases.

RTech can tell you what map you've got on your car (and put a new one on, but declare it) so can insurance companies.

Stretched tyres.

Alloys with VW badges, erm, no, they'll still do you.

So, what about alloys, mirrors, seats from other VW's, no need to declare them then? Erm no. You still need to delcare them.

What NOT to declare: NOTHING.

This does NOT mean that is you have to declare non genuine OEM airfilters etc. as long as anything you put on your car is OEM spec, then all is fine.

Anything that was not made OEM spec for your exact car needs declaring. Even something as stupid as a MK3 VR6 alternator on a MK2 would technically need declaring, even though it wouldn't cost any extra.

One of the main reasons our insurance is so high is because people don't declare mods and therefore this invalidates the insurance.

Say Dave has modded his car, not told the insurance company and hit me for example. His insurance would tell him to f**k himself, fine him and then leave me to get my insurance company to pay out. I'd then have to keep that on record for five years. It then puts the average insurance up a little.

So remember kids, declare your modifications.

Well if someone did that, I'd just love for them to hit a tree.
