IPod setup advice
« on: 09 July 2009, 13:34 »
Just bought a 2002 MK4 and need to get my ipod wired up soon as...
Had the connects2 unit in my last car and in a week i've already really missed it

Just looking for some advice...
(Car has standard cd/tape unit)

I liked the connects2 but it really annoyed me that you can't get full control of the ipod -you we're only able to skip tracks
Is it the same for MK4 connects2?

For this reason i was thinking of getting a general aux cable...
Does the headunit take the standard 3.5mm jack?

The main thing i liked about the connects2 was that it charged my ipod too, was planning on getting round this by running a 12v extension cable into the socket in the boot...

Anyone running something similar? Advice? Recomendations?

MODs please move this to ICE discussion if you want, but it is MK4 specific

Cheers

aftermarket headunit
iPod lead

job done

thats the only way you will get track display, scroll through playlists etc etc through a headunit in the MK4

don't bother with the VW iPod lead as it only makes the iPod act as a cd changer

Ok cool, will probably just go with aux lead and charger...
Don't fancy paying a few hundred quid for a HU just now

Did just spot this though

Anyone got this or seen it used?
