Mk1 Gti cut out??
« on: 13 September 2009, 09:30 »
Hi peeps.
I had a search but i couldnt find anything to cure or help the issue.
I bought my Mk1 Gti yesterday. When i was driving it back across the Dartford bridge it cut out!
It had been sat in traffic for a bit.
When i tried to start it back up, it wouldnt run, almost like it had gone into limp mode. When i tried to start it again i notice the oil light was flashing, Oil temp too high maybe?? Its running fine now, but just wondering what it could have been??
Do i need to get a new Oil cooler or Radiator??
Cheers
Jim

give it a good service mate, that will usually cure any minor running issues and will give peace of mind
as long as the engine didnt overheat [red coolant light flashing] then it may just be a sender

change the coolant in the service and check cooling system is working properly as per cooling faq
also check fuel filler neck for rust as rust in fuel system will give no end of running problems

wayne gardner smokes one rothmans too many
500cc 2stroke bad for ya health

Awesome, cheers dude.
I changed the oil and coolant earlier, she seems to be running sweet now.
