insurance on golfs with engine conversionse

so just so i get an idea,

il planning a project but one thing htat will determine what i can do is the insurance

looking at a r32 lump in a mkII so im assuming once ive told the insurance comp they would insure the car based on that engine? not really sure how it works :P

Yeah I think the car will then take on the insurance group of the R32 engine. However insurance will probably be a specialist only job due to the swap.

You could try Brentacre as you can be covered up to a certain BHP and all your mods will be covered.

Also worth trying HIC or Adrian Flux, you will need an engineers report to confirm the standard of work.

Martin once told me they base it on the car the engine came from, then tweak it a bit. So you'd basically be trying to insure a modified R32 :lipsrsealed: ... that being said, if its a weekend toy you could stick it on a classic limited mileage type dealio.. my rallye used to cost less than 200 quid a year that way.

yeah it would be a wkend/show car and would look to have a limited mileage cheers rhys ill drop Dia a pm jsut trying to look at the overall cost involved

ill ring a few places as well and see what the can tell me :)
