are you doing the work yourself??? as for the service that depends on if you want VW/garage to do it for the service history or if your doing it yourself...go on GSF and look up all the standard parts that are on there to get a price list...as for exhausts alot of people on this forum suggest miltek or jetex really...

hopefully he does the work at mates rates...but check on GSF for how much the parts are...

as for the water pump, im not sure how its driven on the vr's (i can have a look later if i manage to pop to the garage again)...if its chain driven then its worth while changing the chain and chain guide's while its all apart

Haha, oh yes ill sort him a a few pints or twenty.
ill defo check that site tho.
Yes its defo chain driven bt thats gonna cost a small fortune aint it. If i got that done too, id have to get vw to do it properly.
What i heard was that maintenance costs on getting a new chain fitted are near on £700-£800. May be wrong.
Aint got that sort of wedge.

To have me 8v serviced late last year was £160 for a 60k service.

Exhaust wise Jetex or Magnex

I don't think the water pump is chain driven however the chains are a known weak point and can need replacing around 100k it is a big job.
