intermittant loss off power
« on: 10 June 2009, 20:03 »
hi guys not been on for a while due to me selling the mk4 for a vectra back in feb then swapping again for a civic last month....

anyway my better half has a 56 reg mk5 so still under warranty till oct. its only a 1.4 so not sure if you gti boys will be able to help?

she reckons when in 5th gear the car will loose power similar to going uphill like the car is struggling. she says it only happens every couple of days and can happen when going downhill or on flat roads when accelerating.
eg flat road doing 45mph says rev counter will quickly drop and car starts slowing down till she drops it a gear.

i have been driving the car for last few days but havent been able to replicate.

any ideas lads, she swears its not the way shes driving it and dont really want to go to vw for them to have for a day and them to say f all wrong with it with being intermittant!

no warning lights etc

cheers

I don't know the answer but a scan of the ecu using VCDS should tell you if any fault codes have been logged.
Without traction power is nothing!
