Quick question... When you change the head gasket, after doing all the skimming ect. do you need to run water and oil round for 1,000 miles then change it all or can you just leave it alone when finsihed?

Provided everything is ok I would just leave it although it never does anything harm to change the oil and filter.

if the oil in there isn't full of water i run it on that for 10 mins then change it. if all the oil has turned to emuslion, put some cheep oil in run it on that for a day then do a oil change
if the coolant stays clean it's fine if it keeps picking up oil you need to flush till it dosent
