Closing Bonnet (or not)
« on: 26 May 2009, 17:35 »
Trouble closing bonnet.  Have done a search already.

Looking at the manual I seem to be doing this correctly....  "Let the bonnet down until it by-passes the gas strut then let it go".   Followed by "don't press bonnet down", but that's the only way I can get it to close properly.

The release handle (beside the badge) looks like it retracts slightly after pulling it out and the bonnet is bouncing off top of the latch mechanism when I drop it.

Is the pull-handle thing worn or am I being a spanner?

Seriously mate, it just bounces up off the top of the latch.  Looks like the pull-handle retracts in after pulling it out, leaving the latch in the wrong position.  Got it closed now, but don't want to damage it and be stuck somewhere with it buggered.
