no power

just drivin about and smelt a burnin smell, as i put indicators on stereo went off an back on, then i flicked lights on and it just died, nothin at all, had 2 be towed back, still nothin, all fuses ok, anybody got any ideas  :sick: :sick: its mk2 gti 16v

Sounds like maybe a load of wires have melted together and fused the system.  Check behind the stereo?

i pulled stereo out last nite, couldnt see anythin burnt, might ave 2 call auto sparky out

sorted it, wire comin from ignition barrel onto fuse board had burnt off for some unknown reason, put a new one on with an inline fuse, any one else evar had this happen ???? :cool:

yer if something has shorted out somewhere it can melt the wires in the ignition barrel
