they had taken battery off yes but when i picked the car up the ten miles was on the 1 not 2 , 1 is the trip
computer and 2 is long term  YES?? . sort term resets after so long after engine is turned off am i right??
just think 10 miles is a long way for a test drive and 18mpg :undecided:

As said, if its taken them 1 hour something to do 10 miles then chances are its been left on tickover for whatever reason, hence the 18MPG.

the ignition could have been left on for 50 mins (not ticking over just dash lights on) and then been thrashed for 10 mins over 10 miles or taken out in heavy traffic for 20 mins when ignition on for 40 mins. Their are endless possibilities the point being its hard to acuse or prove them of thrashing your car
EDIT im no expert on test drives tho but i know what you mean about test drive for 10 miles, does seem a lot
