How difficult is it to swap my standard steering wheel, could I do it myself or do I need a garage to do it cos of the airbag? Cheer's, Matt

Easy to do, disconnect the battery and leave for 10mins, undo the small screws behind the wheel and the airbag lifts off.

As said before,  wait for 10 mins to discharge the air bag,  remove the two allen bolts behind the steering wheel to remove the air bag unit, There is a yellow plug you just pull out from the air bag.  There is a large nut holding the whole wheel on, 24mm if i remember correcly, put the steering lock on to undo it  Under the cowling there is the connector to the airbag which coils under the wheel, personally i made the mistake of destroying all the wires, which i guess is ok if you are putting an after market one on, otherwise you need to unplug it and pull it through.
10 golfs and counting!
