Thats a non gti later model grill for starts- Gl, Cl etc. Headlamp washers too far in so should be twin headlight grill. Correct engine though. Early K-jet, braided steel fuel lines. Later K-jet had plastic shrouding on the fuel lines. Interior is out of approx 1989 gti. Doesn't match red stripes on door cards. should be bold red and black horizontal stripes on the seats. God I'm a nerd!!!!

lol nerd, thats great i have no idea and cant find decent pics of gen one standard.

thats adding to the list then, need seats, grill must go to ebay for awhile

bummer, looked on ebay and there is a set of 3 dr ones that look like dan7 mentioned so will keep fingers crossed for a set to come up.
would the car have come with aircon? because when i was stripping front end today was a redundant radiator sitting in front of the normal rad with th pipe cut.

Looks like a GTI with a new front end - since it is 5 slat and not 7 slat, as the early ones should have - before the 88 spec golfs came out. You also have GTI door cards - the black and red striped ones, and a later GTI set of seats. The original seats should be black and red too. That bottle is standard fitment to all GTIs with headlamp washers, 8L, all others had 4L bottles.

If it's quite alot smaller and totally seperate from the original rad, it could be an old, redundant oil cooler? Oh, and another nerdy spot, your front indicators are clear, standard ones are bright orange!!!

As said before they are 1989  or 1990 seats. if they will clean up, I have a spare set of matching door cards if you want them.

if it did orig have aircon the glovebox and undertrays will be tiny, unless they were also swapped at the time AC was removed.
