Vinyl Car Wrap - Anyone Done it?
« on: 12 April 2009, 20:04 »
Has anyone on here tried a vinyl car wrap? I have seen it advertised a couple of times and wonder if anyone on here has done it as an alternative to a respray?

Would be interested on views or recommendations.

I know a few people who have had their cars wrapped. depends how deep your pockets are, a decent wrap will be about a grand so weigh that up against the cost of paint and it doesn't look like such a cheap option.

I've done one at work. Took nearly two full days. Think final cost was close to 2 grand. Pros will be its easier to replace a bit if say it scratches afterwards, compared to price of paint.

To be honest I didn't think it would be that expensive, was thinking it might be a cheap option for a colour change, might have to scrap that then!

I don't suppose a respray would be cheap either.

From what I've seen, you can pay anywhere from £300 upwards, but the £300 ones I've seen (includes a mate's rates job that didn't turn out well  ) have just been a waste of money. You'll be looking at about £500-700 for a proper job

Including a colour change? £500 - £700 doesn't sound too bad, but considering the car was only worth about that probably not then.

if your just wanting the car the same colour then your looking at 500 - 1000 tops but if you fancy a colour change then its quite a bit more. . .  as all inside of doors, boot etc have to be done inc priming and flating the whole car, the process takes alot longer than to have the full car sprayed the same colour again, normally aroun 1100 - 2000 and up.

i have never personally done one, but think we have done one at work. same as S7CYW i would have thought, cost wise. cant say for sure.

there is a huge range of colors and you can also have the car done as a print, so have camo printed out and stuck on. or wateva image you want. so much you can do with it, its what makes it better than paint. im tempted to try mine at a later date.
