I did the throttle body clean last week as a measure of trying to eliminate the problems. The ignition shouldnt affect the boost should it ?

It will cause the idle problem and will affect the vacuum on your gauge.

Just been told that the actuator on the golf is onlymade to boost to 1 bar and if exceeded for a long time can break

This correct ?

Not sure about that claim - could be the fault tho  :undecided:

Got a new issue now. When i pull up anywhere the car will idle at 800rpm then gradually gets higher till it hits 1200rpm

This is so unusual
