bumpers
« on: 16 April 2009, 03:48 »
poor description warning -

if i wanted to keep the plastic bit of my rear bumper, and put it onto another bumpers rectangular metal bar bit (spanning the length of the bumper), would I be able to take the metal work from any type of bumper, small or big? I should imagine they are all the same its just the plastic that varies?

its a mk2 1984 gti

thanks

You mean remove the bumper iron from one to another?

If so I'm pretty sure its do able but i'm not 100% sure so don't hold me to that!

if its the same make of bumper yes, vag and pattern bumpers are fixed to the iron in different ways.  pattern ones screw on whilst vag ones are clipped. thinking about it you could probably attach a pattern skin to a vag iron by drilling holes in the irons at the right spots, but the other way round would be tricky as you would need to chop slots into it
