WILL IT ALL FIT THE CABRIO?
« on: 27 July 2004, 20:45 »
Hello buddies,I'v been looking to tart up my Cabrio ,Will all mark 1 parts fit them ,bits like exhuasts and manifolds or does the reinforcing get in the way?
In the topic of speed i would say that my Cabrio k-jet is quite a bit faster then my old mark2 digi,But mind you digi is a bit crappy, they would both weigh about the same

hello

ok the reinforcing is your cross beam in the boot and one behind the dash, thats why you have no lower trays on a cab the beams behind it. the sills are thicker.

mechanically it is the same engine and will swop, the difference is the fuel tank is larger on a cab and has a fuel lift pump inside not on earlier mk1's
your backbox would fit and your manifold would the rest of the pipe might need to be modified as i believe the positioning changed slightly.
interior you know will fit in, later MK1 cabs had MK11 interior parts included and some mechanical parts, the front brakes for example. Depends purely how much you wish to put in and what current level your cab is at engine size and spec.

As regards to the engine, K-jet is a mechanical fuel injection system that requires no brain it is very primative but once mastered easy to work on, it is quite popular because of this, there are claims its faster but thats purely down to the weights of the MK1 compared to the MK11.

The digi is similar to the K-jet in set up except the air intake system is improved and it has a ECU brain they are known to have ECU faults and are not as friendly when it comes to messing around with the airflow and fueling system.

Your MKII needs a service then a cab is slower than a MKII only a few seconds if that.
