R Tech different maps....
« on: 30 March 2009, 21:26 »
Right I have a R tech map, but I see for example Ivor's sig says "R Tech Spec 2 map" and northeast_gti-t sig says "R-TECH GENERATION 3 RE-MAPPED"

Whats the difference???
What do I need to fit for the next level?

Ivor has turbo back exhaust and a KO3s fitted to his AGU

Matt (northeast) has the latest spec of the AUM map  :nerd:

Nick is constantly tweaking his maps to smooth them out and give you more power etc :afro:

Yer..What he said above..

We are really into our 1.8Ts and TDIs and we are always playing and tweaking our remaps to make them better.  Our mk5 stuff is only lightly played with, but over this summer we are going to move on the the 2.0TFSIs and see what our limits are, the 2.0TDi remap easy but there is no room for huge power gains at the moment as I dont trust the turbos so I am not going to take risks...yet got to find a mate with a 2.0tdi and a good warranty plan..hehe.

I remember now (I think) was your car the AGU or the AUM?  If its the AUM it would have the gen3 settings, if it is the AGU is would have the older settings not much init imo.

I think Ben remapped your mates anni on Saturday? Ben lost his phone in the car and nicked the obd cover.. and your mate had to drive 20 miles back to us..lol

Nick,

I didnt get you to play with my map (after the mods) as tbh I don't think it really needs it, but if you make some progress with the 2.0T over the summer give us a shout and I will come up and let you play :)

Mine was the AUM. (The one where the coil pack failed within a few miles after the map) Thanks Nick, was just curious really... If I got an exhaust and DSG instake etc would it be worth having the map changed?

My mate was quizzing me about the map on my car for ages and he seemed impressed with what I told him about you guys so decided to take the trip to you!

I could say you need to give me more money to map the DSG mod in to your car, but I would be ripping you off.

Your AUM has a load based ecu system which is very cleaver, in a way it can work out its own mapping each time you add bits to the car.
The ME7.5 ecu works with real time software calculations based a theoretical software model(also kown as a torque model) which has a number of different look up tables for varing conditions.
So by adding an exhaust or de-cat the ecu will still work on its optimum look up tables to produce the power the best way it can with all the incomming and out going sensors supplying a constant stream of live real time data. You could even bolt a ko4 to your AUM,and by offsetting the maf housing you could run a safe 240bhp+ from a good spec1 remap with a good lambda map.

If your car is running well you should see 210bhp, bolt a de-cat to thre car and you should be closer to 220+bhp and still be running very smooth and SAFE.
