Door seal problem 3door GTi
« on: 23 March 2009, 15:36 »
Hi guys,
I only recently acquired my 3 door 05reg GTi and in the last week have noticed a bit of a whistling noise coming from around the door seal on the drivers door while driving. After investigating it further, it seems that my door seems to be sagging a little and the seal isn't as tight as it should be (directly above the door handle). Has anyone else out there in Gti land suffered a similar faith. One of my friends mentioned that on his mark2 gti the door tended to drop ova time and had to be adjusted. Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Cheers,
Jay

I've heard quite a few mentions of excessive wind noise from door seals. I've only heard it once and it was a brand new 3 door. My 5 door is fine and I did wonder if it was only the 3 door that was affected.

Can't help, though, as I don't know if there is a cure. If you are under warranty, then its worth a trip to the dealer.

You sure it's the door seal and not the wing mirror

Well Cass
Ya possitive its the door seal. Even got my mate to drive the car and i sit in the passanger seat to see if it was the same on the pass side but its only on the drivers side. The door even seems to have a heavier closing noise than the pass side. Sounds like its catching the lock heavy which suggests to me its sagged slightly. Unfortunately no longer under warranty tho
