8v to 16v mk2 conversion
« on: 13 March 2009, 22:23 »
HI there ,I have carried out a engine conversion from a 2.0 8v seat engine to a 1.8 16v gti engine
the reason for the conversion was a ecu failure with the 2.0 8v engine which was taken originally out of a 99 seat .
Luckily I had a mk2 16valver in my shead so carried out the conversion a.s.a.p
the loom and all usual was changed by a vw mechanic, the timing belt and service has been done all vaccum pipes have been checked also. the car will turn over but will not pick up power when the boot is put down.I would be very greatfull of any help or ideas that may help .
Thanks  P.S. the engine im using now is a 1988

^^ very good point, 8v pump & lines are no good for a 16v, pressure not high enough.

ahh,  the lift pump ( in tank is same  8 or 16v  ) the under car pump is massivly diffrent.   8v = 3 bar  16v = 6-7 bar
all the VW's have gone bar 1.
