Thanks to the help of folk on this forum I now have my GTi up and running - cheers all!!

Over silver lining has a cloud, though, so I'll be using the gear selector guide to help me renew and replace the linkage bushes in the near future. BTW, what's all that weighted gear linkage business about?

Thanks again, folks

Weighted gear rod will make the gear change feel smoother, comes from a mk3. Probably the easiest upgrade you can do

A big THANK YOU to all who offered advice and to the guys who put their bushing experiences (!) onto this forum. I've just replaced the gearlink bushes and fitted a weighted rod this morning - I can't believe the difference it makes to the feel of the car!!!!

Cheers!!!
