Its not awful though. My commute to work involves going through the Blackwall tunnel and those of you from London will know what a nightmare it is. Easily 45 minutes of sitting in traffic. A total distance of 15 from my house and I can see 28MPG easily. It really is about how you drive it.

Also its got to be the GTI, you will love it. Get the GTI remapped and it will be quicker than the P / ED30 :D

What happens when you get the ED30/P remapped though?

You start looking into Quaife products...like me

Do you have adjustable ARBs John?  Or do you have the WALK fitted?

If you do have adjustable ARBs, try hardening up the front, and/or softening the rears - that should help balance front end traction across the axle.

Yes, I have the WALK and the ARB's are adjustable. They have 3 settings/holes for soft medium and hard and the fronts are on hard and the rears on medium

Soft on the rear felt a little too much (for me) like stock and needed hardening a little.

The harder, the better on the front I've found is best and they are already on the hardest setting(again for me!)

OK, maybe try going back to soft on the rear, and see if that improves cornering traction.  If it does, then maybe try some spacers on the rear to counteract the softer ARB setting.

Otherwise, a Quaife may well be the only medicine for you!
