yea the 1.8t 150bhp. R-tech said they can remap it to 210bhp. but im worried about strain on drive shaft and engine components.
Hello m8,
Welcome to the forum!
I have just flicked past 65 emails and spoted on from you I think? asking about added stresses?
I have seen a 400bhp 1.8t snap a drive shaft..

, but apart from that I have never known a remap to cause any stress related issues to the engine or drive train. The engine, pistons and rods are good for 300bhp, turbo is good for 240bhp, gear box and diff I dont know as I have never know one to fail, OEM Clutch will hold 250bhp+.
BUT!!! All remap will bring to light all under laying faults and finish weak components off. Most of the time the coild packs will pack up within a few weeks of a remap (AUM engine) plus the MAF can fail straight away or soon after the remap, If your clutch is slipping a bit or its on its way out the remap will finish it off for sure, weak boost pipe connection can come a part.
IMO if your looking to remap your car you should budget for the worse, 4 coil packs, or MAF or at the MAX a new clutch.
Touch wood I have not come across a remap that kills a turbo with in weeks, infact I only know of one of my customers car to blow a turbo about a month after the remap, this was due to a crushed turbo feed oil pipe. (Step in people and correct me if I am wrong)
I thinks it down the the amout of time we spend making sure everything is right before we send our customers on there marry way.
Our own AUM has 150k on the clocks and gets maxed out every now and again so we can play and is still solid as a rock.
