Cam belt
« on: 26 February 2009, 09:37 »
I've just bought a mk3 gti 8v [R reg].  Can anyone advise me about how to find out if the cam belt has been changed.  The bloke i bought it off said it was done at 56,000 but there is no record of it in the service schedule.  The car is on 89,000 now so if it needs to be done it needs to be done now.  Thanks

If your not sure or have no history then change it, it is due really now and is not that expensive but could be if it breaks.

Yes, don't take anyone's word for it.

Just get it done!

I couldnt find any history of mine having been changed, and with 125k on the clock it was the first thing I did.
