mark 3 golf gti no spark PLS HELP!!
« on: 25 February 2009, 02:18 »
Hi,

i am in desperate need of some advice pls.... my car has been workin like a dream since i purchased it, den all of a sudden one day it wouldn't start on my drive.. the AA came out and i was told the coil was faulty and need replacin, i did this and the car started up first time i drove up the road for 5 mins came back home and the car stalled as soon as i left it to idle.

opened the bonnet an realised the oil breather pipe had a massive split in it. ive since replaced it but now the car wont start it tries to turn ova .... had the AA out last nite and i was told that there wasn't any spark at all and that the coil was fine  and that it may be the hall sensor instead and this may have been the initial problem an not the coil as first thouht.

unfortunately im no mechanic so cannot supply u with all the info u need but if anyone cud shed sum lite on the situation i wud really appreciate it or perhaps point me in the rite direction, im told that everythin checks out in terms of voltages wherever he tested wid a multimeter an that the car shud start which is why he cudnt understand why there was no spark, ive looked thru the forums and seen that this may have sumthin to do with the ecu 30 relay ?? or the hall sensor which the aa bloke was cumin up with ??

if u need any info pls let me know. Thanks in advance.

Relay 30 is for the fuel pump so that would not kill your spark.

Best bet is to get the codes red on a VAG COM to see if any problems are logged.

If not Hall Sensor sounds like a good bet to me
