Help!!!
« on: 21 February 2009, 16:56 »
Hi folks!

Need a little advice! Basicly i've had my GTI one week! Some scrotum has decided to 'accidently' key my side window and now I have a big lovely 13inch scratch right down it! Does anyone know how to remove it?

P.S I would love to catch one of these T***s in action, I would be getting used to a cold cell if i do!

if its on the window then you got no chance of removing it I'm afraid.

See how much your glass excess is on your insurance, usually about £60 and you wont loose you no claims. Then ring them up, tell em its smashed and they will send out a person to replace it on ur drive way.

When you know the time, take a hammer to it about 30mins before the day they are going to arrive.

Job done.

It's medium, the thing is i'm trying to sell it too so can't go through the insurance and need to get rid asap! How much is it to replace the window(mk5).  It's depressing to think that the person who done this can just get away with it and could easily do it again ! I'm getting paranoid now and starting to hate having the car !

You are talking about micromesh arn't you? This is not really available to the average Joe public.

If I were you, I would pull another screen out of a scrapped car and fit that. It takes about an hour and is not that bad a job. Launching a brick through it for insurance purposes is a cowboy act and just makes a mess, and you will never get all the glass up.
You may get an insurance job on it without smashing it though, if the damage is bad enough.
