Spec1 Vs Spec2 remap
« on: 21 February 2009, 16:40 »
Hi all,
Considering having my Mk5 GTI remapped and noticed on the RTech website that they offer two types of remap at different prices, with the Spec2 remap being more expensive.

Can you tell me what the difference is between the maps? does Spec2 require the change of other components?

Also, RTech are offering a Remap of the Mk5 including a "FREE PIPERCROSS PERFORMANCE PANEL FILTER WITH EVERY REMAP SESSION" what power gains might I expect and can anybody shed any light on how this improves the cars real life performance i.e. not just 0-60 but mid range acceleration?

Also, is the remap on offer to GTI forum members a Spec1 or Spec2 remap?

A load of questions I know but I would appreciate any comments.

Thanks,
Dave.

PS. There is only one GTI!

Hello

Welcome to the forum m8,

Spec1 remap it for a stock engine setup.
Spec2 is higher power and boost designed for engines with less restrictive exhaust gas path such as de-cat,  sports cat and exhauts system.  If you go spec2 on a stock car you will have too much heat build up, your egts will go sky high, the engine will run rich and compromise the power.

Spec1 will be around 38-49bhp of strong smooth power across the whole band. Not a nasty spiked map.
If you fancy the trip down to us we can put your car on the rolling road at no extra charge, so you can see the exact power gain back to back.

and you get a free filter.

Nick
