rear bench
« on: 09 February 2009, 18:30 »
I've currently got blue/black bucket seats in my mk2 golf but it means that there is no rear bench so not very practical and it doesn't match well with the oak green of the car. I'm thinking about putting a set of plain black cobra daytonas (or similar) in and a rear bench. but I'd need a black rear bench for it all to match. Are there any black rear benches about? or would it be worth buying a tatty one and have it re-done in plain black?
Cheers!

Some Mk3's and Corrado's had black-ish cloth interior, although most I've seen tend to have a ropey 90's pattern in the cloth which looks a bit sh!t in a Mk2, although some of the Corrado interiors are plainer.

Another idea (and bear with me on this one), would be to dye the seats with fabric dye in a big barrel or something with cold water dye. It would be a messy job and take several goes to get it proper black, but I think it would work eventually. I thought about this when I was considering putting Mk4 recaros in my valver, and I was wondering how to get the door cards to match without paying for a re-trim. I thought a [possible] solution would be to dip them in dye.

Might be a bullsh#t idea though, but just a thought.
