Are these chips any good?

These seem cheap and maybe worth a punt. Now I wouldn't normally mess with these eBay things, but it does superchips on them....

waste of time

bad for your car

sheer lunacy to even think about fitting one

you want a chip, go get a real one, Superchips etc

As I said I wouldn't usually entertain an eBay "chip", but it says superchips on the item hence it got me interested.

I have an E30 BMW as well and on that forum they fit budget chips that work....

I have seen people use them on the Vectra forums and have endless problems plus in the end the chip damaged the car, so no don't go near them.

fit one then, but that is not a genuine superchip

my superchip didnt look like that, the superchips logo is a blue hologramic one with a rom number below it

these cheep chips dont do what a superchips (or other reputable brand) one does, they are crap, seen cars in well lane turbo centre having to be sorted out after these cheep chips/remaps

i seroisly wouldnt entertain any cheep chip like this

Yeah I thought they might be a rip off of a proper superchip.

I'll avoid these then. No doubt they are only fooling the ECU into burning more fuel.

Correct, some of Vectra ones leave the cold start map on and they then wolf petrol down.

Same guy used to sell these on ebay under the name Powerchips.

I had one for my 16v and it worked perfectly fine for over a year, car felt smoother and more responsive, but no dyno figures to prove any of this. Petrol consumption didn't seem adversely affected by the chip and my car is mostly used on the track and getting to and from the track.

I believe his chips are a copy from someone else's.

I have now got an R-Tech chip fitted which was based on the standard software chip for my car, this seems much much better than the standard chip and the Powerchip I have been using. Plus it is tailored on the standard software for the car model and not a generic one fits all type. I have yet to test the chip on the track but on the road it is much improved.

I would suggest you contact Nick at R-Tech (in the remapping section) if you want a chip for your car.
