You're right but show cars aren't cheap. The way I think about them is you need to spend at least £2k one each of these aspects:
Engine
Interior (re-trim)
Wheels
Stance/suspension
paint

I agree totally. No point having a trailer queen. I want my car to look good (to me) drive well and so on. But will not be spending brand new Golf GTI money getting it to that standard. Also I want to do as much work as I can myself.
