Very nice.

So as standard is the MK5 about the same as a mapped 1.8t or is this where torque comes into it?

Id say a remaped 1.8T would be pretty much on a par with a MK5 there or there abouts. I know Tim said he had an encounter and left a MK5 drive shocked, but they are pretty much the same. Without blowing my own trumpet too much me remaped mk5 is the dogs big bits, so much fun.

Cant wait to show Rhyso what petrol power is all about next week :D lol ;)

Mapped 1.8T's will have more torque than a std Mk5.  I left one quite easily about a year a go.  I'd imagine I'd be struggling a bit compared to Alan D's though, LOL!! :D

Interesting, as I said Tim said he left on but I took it with a pinch of salt, now that 2 people say it im won over. Iv got to say that If a reasonably normal looking MK4 embarrassed me I would be doing my nut it in lol :D(luckily that wont happen lol)

Torque is the new BHP.

You dont have to but it advisable as the increased boost run by a remap means the existing VW one is prone to go pop.

my mk4 creamed stock mk5's.. had a bit more than just a remap though obviously.. would've liked to have put it up against a stock ED30 to see how it faired.

with this remapping what effect does it have on the fuel economy. obviously all that power needs to come from somewhere but when its done does it feel like you may aswell have a whole in your tank or would i be pleasantly supprised?

If you drive gently, MPG is BETTER.  If you drive hard, MPG is worse.  Try resisting driving hard when it's mapped, though!!! :D
