Mk4 GTI 1.8T - PROBLEM --- PLEASE HELP!
« on: 22 January 2009, 15:13 »
Please Help!!

My golf has been off the road due to an accident about a month and a half ago... ive had to replace:

front panel, bumper, lights, radiator, bonnet, and an alloy.

I started the car for the first time last Saturday and it is ticking over but not the same as usual...

It also won't go above 1500rpm. when trying to rev it just bounces back down and almost cuts out.

I am replacing the Air Flow Meter as it blew before the accident. Can't see it being this though!  :undecided:

FYI the car has been chipped.

Any Ideas with what could be wrong would be great!!

Thanks

George

sounds like you've identified the problem

my mate had the same problem, unplugged the MAF (air flow sensor) and the car drove fine

have you unplugged the MAF and tried driving it with it disconnected?

That doesn't sound good, next time replace it with a TT maf sensor, same fitment but better part.
