Came home from work today and thought i need to crack on with the car!

1st on my list was gettin the heater matrix sorted, after a few hours its all sorted and starting to look like a normal mk2 interior!
thanks to the guides on here for help with the matrix just gettin the air pipes for the heating back in was a nightmare!

2nd on the list was to attempt to remove the centre nuts from the alloys, were the car had been sitting so long, these weren't seized they had bubbled the paint so much it has expanded the alloy to the nut, so out camethe air chisel! After abt half hour on the front two nuts finally got somewere, the back two came off in abt five minutes also, so finally get the alloys refurbed and some new rubber stretched round them.

on gettin the wheels off ive discovered a snapped passenger side handbrake cable and a few wheel bearings which will need replacing! more to add to the list!

After making enuff noise to wake the neighbour, thought i'd put the bottom of the dash board back together, only to find im missing a piece, fuse box cover panel below the steering wheel! Also found a nice selection of cables and random switch cables whilst putting the dash back together so tomoro shall be spent tracing all these cables to there source!

P.S. will be posting a few better pictures at the weekend!

Thought I better update the project,

Been a bit busy over the weekend cracking on and gettin things sorted

Rewired the fan cables as the previous owner had attempt wat looked like a rats nest to the fan so stripped it all down to the original loom. A few crimps later and the fan was working prefectly, even run on after the engine was switched off! result!

Found the problem with the front wash jets, one the pump had been blocked for the front wash and the pipe for the front washers connected to the rear outlet?! so replaced the pump but still no joy! So had a quick look at the stalk, after puttin a mulimeter across the contacts found the problem. The positive contact for the front wash was missing the positive contact on the column! a little quick sand down and a bend with the pliers, hey presto front wash n wipe!

Whilst inside the car decide to investigae why the speedo wasnt working, after a little bit of swearing and fiddling got the clocks out, without having to unplug the speedo cable as this was disconnected! doh, anyhows whilst id managed to get the clocks out had a little fiddle with some blue leds and a bit of my missus glow in the dark nail varnish lol. NO i didnt paint my nails!

also tidied up the the heater control panels whikst id the leds out and the nail varnish,

Then i decide to tackle the rust on the tailgate, wat a mistake that was, lets just say i found this wen i tried to remove the rear plate!

out came the cutting disc and oops

ever since id bought my project the rear panel had been annoying me as it was pushed in around the badge, so out came the wood and a large hammer! Well lets just say it was full of filler!

always thought of the euro look for the car so the welder was called into action, unfortunately the gas run out so will be finishing the welding and smooting tomoro if it ever stops snowing!

After the snow finally starting to clear i though id crack on with the rear panel and a few more bits on the mk2,

taken bloody ages to get the rear panel straighten out and filled up been slowly returning the shape to that of a more original look rather than beaten to hell!

after removing the patches of rust which took alot of rubbing cutting filling, swearing etc finally got some filler primer over the whole rear panel!

just need to get the tailgate done now, which is probably gonna take twice as long, and more swearing!

whilst waiting for the primer to dry decide to attack the front lights which were full of water!

so split the lens of the backs rubbed them all down and hit them with smoke matt black whilst the lens were off!

will get some pictures of them in the grill tomoro, if the weather doesnt get in the way!
