Eh up jack?...erh...no?!
« on: 11 June 2003, 11:37 »
Anyone had any trouble with there car jack. My previous to cars were mk3 gti's and the jack gave me no probs. Buy a 16v and the jack doesnt fit!! At the jacking point at the front the amount of bodywork that has to fit into the recess on the jack is physically impossible and every time i 'jack' the car slips. (watch ya fingers!) Ive had to put a non vw jack in the boot (do wot?) as im stuffed if i get a puncture.

Anybody else come across this problem??? ???

I'm assuming that the jack has a slotted plate on the top and this should fit on the welding seam on the sill. I found that you need to start with the jack at a strange angle as when you jack right up the foot of the jack lifts right up and very little touches the floor.I carry a trolly jack in my car as the thought of changing a wheel on the motorway with the car perched on the original jack as juggernauts thunder past isnt something I want to entertain.
