Out of interest, if you switch the AC on / off does it change the pitch of the noise or anything? When I had a problem with my tensioner I found that switching the AC on or off changed the pitch slightly. If it does then at least you know it something to do with that belt and its unlikely to be a majorly serious problem. If it doesn't change then it doesn't really tell you anything

well theres no differance when i put the air con on, but ive had the bonet up and its defo coming from the drivers side of the engine...
