HELP! Alarm problem!
« on: 07 June 2004, 09:21 »
battery went flat last week due to me leaving the lights on   :-\

since then the alarms been playing up...

after it went flat the alarm wouldnt sound, even if you set it off...

yesterday it needed a jumpstart cause it didnt have enough juice in the battery...

and now the keyfob doesnt work!!!

its a clifford concept 50....

anyone? might try and change the battery in keyfob, but not sure if they need to be paired in any way?

hey vix, as i understand it.. any thatcham certified alarm fitter can do you a certificate up. when i first got my car i had to do this for the Toad one it has... as i got no docs with it.
i got it done at a local clifford place since there isnt a local toad one.
whether they will do it for you or not is another matter.. cost me about 35 quid.

well i tried one of the local thatcham approved guys yesterday and they said they are allowed to remove it but not test it or repair it. ::)

apparently cobra went bust several times and therefore no one is trained to fit them anymore. to be honest tho, like i said in the post for richard the guys round here are renowned for ripping u off,  i think they just want me to buy a new alarm.  thats a pain because mine works fine but needs that gold dust certificate for the insurance company.  :(

i might make some phonecalls further afield today  ;)

good luck phoning around vix :)

that guy must have been talking arse.. coz like I said, I got that company here to do exactly that. I ended up with a letter explaining it had been tested by an approved installer on their headed paperwork. my insurance (privilege) were fine with that.

luckily i have a really good outfit down here who fit clifford alarms + ICE stuff.. and happen to be VW/Audi specialists too! they have all my needs covered! ;)
