Had an awesome day today. I got down the scrappy as early as I could and got my brakes that I wanted, got the whole lot with greenstuff pads for £70
. They are from an ibiza, so the same as g60's and my mk2 shafts slotted straight in no problem. I hooked them all up and fitted a new steering column. Tomorrow is THE day! Going to pick the car up in half hour, and I cant wait. Its going to be a long weekend.. Im planning on having the engine in and started by monday not including the cooling as Im not sure whtas happening there yet! I really cant wait, Im like an excited child lol Please excuse the yellow paint on the calipers... could find any orange brake paint!! lol
A few pics for your good selves.
We thought we would pimp up the spray booth with the mandatory orange paint!
The camper is done, will get some pics that do it justice
One of our little touches
Engine day tomorrow.... no going out 2nite, gunna be an early one!

I havnt updated here for a while as I have been proper busy!
I will give you a summary..
I picked the donor up last friday night and took it down to the workshop saturady morning and got busy with the ratchet gun..
By lunchtime it looked like this..
Then half hour later...
I decided to skip lunch, fit the mk3 shifter, mate my mk2 wishbones to the vr k-frame, put the mk2 pas rack on and bolt it all up to the car. I had to mod the shifter a little but it fits like a glove. I chopped down the rear mont 20mm so the engine would sit right and not hit the bonnet. I then removed all the wiring needed from the vr, plugged it into my fusebox and left it all hanging out so I could make sure it worked before tucking it all away. This was about it for saturday.
Sunday involved "making" a front crossmember and trial fitting the lump.. it was spot on so I left it there!
I finished the crossmember and bolted the engine down on its mounts. Before I knew it, it was time to start her up.. result! After sorting the fuel pump wiring out she fired straight away.
this is how she stood sunday evening..
I was well happy that I sorted it on me own in two days!!
I went in later on monday and my mate came up to help me sort out the cooling side of things. Money decided that I use the vr rad and twin fans. This wasnt as hard as expected or as people make out. We had to chop a fair amount of plastic from the fan surrounds and weld some brackets onto the rad support and then bolt it through. It almost looks factory and fits lovely..
After this was sorted we ran her up to temp, the fans kicked in no problem. We sorted a leaky oil sensor and were happy to leave it there for the night.. well 1 in the morning!
Since then I have tucked most of the wiring and generally tidied it up a bit. We also fitted the mk3 seats to the mk2 subframes in the front and managed to get the 60/40 split rear bench in by means of cutting off the brackets from the mk3 and welding them on the mk2. They also fit really well and look pretty neat. We then spent a good 4 hours piecing the front end together.. It hant been in one piece since the orange paint so was apprehensive about how she would look... but I love it!
Since then I have been busy breaking up the mk3. In case you dont know, this how you dispose of an unwanted car.....!
That skip was made for it!!!! Tis all for now, its going on its maiden voyage tomorrow down the road to make sure nothing falls off!!!!
