Front Engine Mount Dog Bone worth getting??
« on: 27 June 2004, 21:08 »
Question as above, what does the Front Engine
Mount Dog Bone do and is it worth getting??
If A equals success, then the formula is: A = X + Y + Z, X is work. Y is play. Z is keep your mouth shut.

The uprated one is supposed to eliminate the "wheel hop" that can happen when you pull away quickly and the wheels spin. (basically feels like the whole front end of the car is jumping up and down)
It's not something that's usually done unless you get wheel hop all the time.. as obviously it can cause some serious damage.

Chris.

Think i'll pass for a while, no hip hop  on my machine!! was just asking cos my jumped up 'work' friend had his whole suspension uprated with powerflex and he mentioned dog bones, said the change was amazing!

but he would (that kind of guy) ;)

The dogbone mount transformed my car, I feel I have much more control when putting my foot down from low speeds.
Also wheelhop has been completely eliminated and all for around ?18!
Bargain!!!

Now reduced to only 12.95+vat!!

I've just fitted a set - definitely worth it if your car has got a few miles on it as your standard bushes are probably knackered anyway, and VW want over ?50 for the complete assembly.
