Car Insurance - Renewal vs. new quote
« on: 16 November 2008, 11:02 »
Hi Guys,

I got my insurance renewal through from LV on friday and theyre asking for £1476 for this years insurance with 1 years ncb (im 18 and passed December last year and paid £1800 for the first year)

Now ive been looking around at quotes for a while and found one from Bell which is £1101 and seems to include everything that the other policy does and I declared my lowered suspension on it!

Do you think that if I phoned LV they would be able to match the price or would I just need to ask them to send me a proof of no claims certificate?

Thanks,

Dec

Doubt they'll go lower mate. I was with M&S, my renewal was the same price as what I've been paying the last year, I thought it was meant to go down by 30% each year or sommat like that. Sod paying £780 again on my 2nd year, it's meant to go down!

Got a multi quote from MoneySuperMarket, the M&S quote on there was the same as what they were quoting over the phone (+/- a few squid for using online quotes or w/e) but the cheapest on MSM was another company coming in at £370ish for the if year paid monthly, gave HIC a call and they came in at £10ish more than the other company but went with HIC to a get a fellow dubber (Hey Martin  ) a few extra squid on his bonus.

Check with MSM and the other multi quote web sites too! You might end up with insurance more than 1/2 the price!

Oh and M&S failed big stylie when I said I get the same break down cover as what they provide and at half the cost
Not that I ever needed to used it  :smug:

Hey jay thanks for that :) I actually called them the other day and they couldn't do any better.

I got a quote from Norwich union for £957 fully comp Inc. business cover :)

Recon I'll go with this tbh and pay half what I paid last year!
