refilling later type 020 4 speed tranny.

i need to check the oil level as there's been a little leak.
tried everything to open the refilling cap but most likely it's not going to open.
so is it still possible to refill through the speedo cable (after draining)?
and how much oil gets in there?

and there are 2 rubber or plastic bits in the edge of the box- one in the middle bottom and one opposite to the refilling cap, which are sweating a bit- is it possible to replace them without dismantling the box?

4 speed box capacity is 1.5litres, will be a little less than this as you can never drain the box completly. as for the other bits I'm having trouble picturing what you're describing?

edit: yes you can fill thru the speedo hole, its the recommended method anyway as filling thru the side is a bit of a mission!
