A VR6 is well and good if you have pots of petrol money and dont mind a high insurance premium.
Ive just bought a 16v and think its fantastic, beats the pants off my old 8valve even tho the gear change is a bit chunky but illl just get used to that. things to look for?... well i guess its just the same as what you'd look for in any golf. Original paint (Check the window rubbers for overspray), low mileage, no prangs (have a good look down the sides for wibbly bits and dents, don't view when its wet as scratches don't show up). But you probably new all this already! Just be sensible, if you dont like the look of it, don't buy it!
