air conditioning
« on: 29 September 2008, 12:42 »

I'm after a little help... I bought my car 6 months ago (when it was still in warranty) and have had two seperate VW garages waste my time over the course of the last 6months. The AC simply wont work and I'm now on compressor number 4.

To me it seems like the brain of the system is broken rather than the compressor etc. Both garages have been hopeless and worst of all I'm constantly without my car as they TRY and fix it again and again. Does anyone know who I sould contact who would actaully know what is going on, or even better who to speak to at VW.

All help massively appreciated.

Look just cool down (Sorry couldn't resist) First off welcome Redfoot.
If you do a search on here you will undoubtedly get a good idea of what the problem maybe. If you dont have confidence in your local stealer try another one. All you can do is negotiate a decent courtesy car and tell them to keep yours until problems fixed.

Firstly Hello & Welcome

Sorry to hear of your troubles

I agree with TopCat but by the sounds of things you have already tried two dealers so perphaps a letter to VW UK would be advisable to let them know about the poor service you are receiving from their dealerships ?

checked the fuses?

sometimes the compressor won't kick in if there isn't enough pressure (i.e enough gas) in the system to make it run...

have you had a garage run a UV check on the system to see if there are any leaks?

my old leon used to have its own diagnostics unit built into the climate control screen....
