RNS 510 Prices
« on: 28 September 2008, 17:24 »
Afternoon All

I read somewhere earlier in the week that prices for the much sought after RNS 510 might start to come down a bit as VW have increased production and in doing so have therefore impacted the whole supply and demand situation.

I've been thinking of getting one for a while now and reckon I might wait until the new year before taking the plunge just to see if prices do in fact take a tumlbe.

Anyone have any thoughts or other info on this?

Cheers

Like everything prices come down eventually, although i'm not sure VW increasing supply will reduce the second hand cost, ps they are not made by VW, they are produced in the Chezch republic for VW

prices will come down if VW introduce a newer navi system IMO

Cheers 182, makes sense what you say. I'd just heard that production had been slow on them, hence they've kept their prices quite high.

Just going to sit tight for the time being, other things like re mortgages to take care of first

well, they had production issues with them, but they only really sell to the new car market, so when people spec a new car they have been struggling to get one with the unit fitted, i guess more will reach the second hand market as more cars have them fitted , i.e from being stolen or scraped etc, as i say though prices will remain reasonably high until VW produce a better / newer unit, how much are you wanting them to reduce to ?

PS , for info & iirc the units are produced by Siemens VDO and not Blaupunkt like the previous VW units were

I agree with 182_blue, if you look at how long it took the prices of the previous MFD2 model to come down, the difference was only significant once the RNS-510 was available.

IMO the current price you can get these for is reasonable for an OEM unit with it level of features.

And the OEM look really makes the interior look nice too
